Saturn
Saturn is the second largest planet. Only Jupiter is larger. Saturn has seven thin, flat rings around it. A couple of planets have rings, but their rings are much fainter than those around Saturn. Saturn's diameter at its equator is 74,600 miles which is almost ten times that of Earth. The planet can be seen from Earth with the unaided eye, but its rings cannot.
Saturn has 53 moons, Christiaan Huygens discovered the first known moon of Saturn. The year was 1655 and the moon was Titan.
The particles in Saturn's rings are composed primarily of water ice and range from microns to meters in size. The rings show a tremendous amount of structure on all scales; some of this structure is related to gravitational perturbations by Saturn's many moons, but much of it remains unexplained.
